Friends of Silverwood Park.

On January 12, 2015 Gina Helgesen not only won the first place prize in the Gifts For Kids holiday raffle drawing but she donated her entire $500 winnings back to Gifts For Kids!  Gina had mentioned it would be lovely if Gifts For Kids could earmark the money for a gardening project if something like that was ever requested.

When Marisa Walton (G4K Board of Directors) heard that Silverwood Summer School was looking for donors to help to cover the cost of the daily rate for the bus from Edgerton Elementary to Silverwood Park, she knew she had found the perfect way to spend the $500.  The total funds needed was $1,329.45.  With $500 from Gifts For Kids and an additional $500 from the FFA Alumni they were already very close to cover this expense! The Siverwood Summer School is a 3 week summer school where the Elementary children will meet and learn about farm animals, farm & tractor safety as well as plant, tend, harvest and enjoy eating what they have grown.

In March 2018 G4K donated $750 to complete the Children’s Nature Trail.  Funds were used to purchase the 10 trail station signs, 10 posts and a large range of laminated trail guides.  What’s unique about the Silverwood Nature Trail is that it can change with the seasons or group!  G4K also supports Silverwood Summer School!
